MAKE IT PRACTICAL
- March '03/Adar I-Adar II 5763 |
Many of the issues addressed in this series deal with complex and practical matters of Jewish law, human nature, human relations and life. Study without ongoing practice, review and reinforcement is forgotten. The value of this material is when it is LIVED. For your personal practical questions, seek specific case-by-case instruction from an experienced, capable, knowledgeable and G-d fearing orthodox rabbi; one who is a high-level Jewish law authority; and one who is known, accepted and respected by the entire Torah-observant community.
Pirkei Avos (chapter one) teaches, "Make for yourself a Rabbi." It is an obligation of life, incumbent on every Jew, to create a relationship with a Rabbi to learn Torah from and to obtain guidance from him in practical life. The Torah is a system to be lived. This brings the obligation onto you to create access to a Rabbi who can give personal direction for the conduct of a Torah life in all situations. A practicing orthodox rabbi will not feel imposed upon by your questions. Each question asked with sincerity, will be replied to with sincerity. Just as your job is to seek instruction, his job is to furnish it.
