If
I could leave this work behind
And just walk out that door
I’d feel the wind blow through my hair
Away from paper, desk and chair,
For just a while to be free
I’d slowly walk across the sand
Like other people do
I’d sit right down upon the rocks
And then take off my shoes and socks
And maybe somebody else like me
Would come and sit down too
If I could leave this work behind and just walk out that door
I know my job’s important
But there must be something more
The sunshine and the wind
Blowing freely through my hair
The cold sweat dripping down my back
Out in the open air
Such sweet sensations never did I feel
Anytime or anywhere
The earth and the sunshine
The sunshine and the wind
Out in the open air
To the River of Humility I go
And as the gentle waters of the river flow
I hope to find the path to what I’m seeking
As the sunset casts an otherworldly glow
There are many things I’m sure that I don’t know
Like a tree, my soul towards sunlight yearns to grow
So that I may find the answers I am seeking
To the River of Humility I go
There is something out there greater that I know
And like the spring sun melts the winter’s mountain snow
I hope to finally find elucidation
To the River of Humility
Where I’ll regain tranquility
The River of Humility I go
If I could leave this work behind and just walk out that door
If I could leave this work behind and just walk out that door
Just go
If I could only go away
