1)
(a) We have already learned that Rebbi Yossi exempts someone who carried his
Lulav into the street on the first day of Sukos that fell on Shabbos. In
which case does Abaye inform us that he will still be Chayav?
(b) What basic problem do we have with Abaye's ruling?
(c) How does Abaye establish Rebbi Yossi?
(d) Rava establishes Rebbi Yossi when he carried the Lulav inside a jar
(even if he carried it the right way). How will Rava reconcile this with
his own ruling earlier (that carrying via a vessel is nevertheless
considered carrying)?
2)
(a) Where about on the Mizbe'ach did the Kohanim make Melikah on ...
- ... the Olas ha'Of?
- ... the Chatas ha'Of?
(b) Then how can Rav Huna say that, according to Rebbi Yossi, if a Kohen
found an Olas ha'Of and ate it, thinking it was a Chatas ha'Of, he is Patur?
How is this possible?
(c) On the other hand, what is Rav Huna's Chidush? Is this not inherent in
the words of Rebbi Yossi?
(d) How does Rav Huna reconcile his statement with Rebbi Yossi himself, who
says in a Beraisa that someone who Shechts a Tamid that was *not* inspected
on Shabbos, thinking that it *was*, is Chayav?
3)
(a) The Tana Kama of our Mishnah permits a woman to receive the Lulav from
her husband or son on Shabbos, and to return it to water. Why does it
mention specifically 'a woman'?
(b) How does Rebbi Yehudah differentiate between Shabbos, Yom-Tov and Chol
ha'Mo'ed with regard to keeping one's Lulav fresh?
(c) From which stage is a small child obligated to Bensch Lulav?
4)
(a) Each Mitzvah has a different gauge with regard to the starting age for a
child. At which stage must a father give his son Tzitzis?
(b) What must the father do when his son reaches the stage where he is able
...
- ... to lay Tefilin?
- ... to speak?
(c) If he is old enough to guard himself from becoming Tamei, one need not
worry about Tum'ah when his body touches Taharos. What does 'Lishmor
Yadav' mean, and what are its ramifications? Is it synonymous with 'Lishmor
Gufo'?
(d) Which Din comes into effect the moment the child knows ...
- ... whether he became Tamei or not (and is able to state when he doesn't know)?
- ... how to Duchen (if he is a Kohen)?

(a) The moment he knows how to Shecht, one may eat from his Shechitah.
Does this mean that he must also be an expert in Hilchos Shechitah? Then how
can one rely on his Shechitah?
(b) What changes from the moment the child is able to eat a k'Zayis of
wheat-bread (does this mean specifically *wheat*-bread)? What are the
ramifications of this Halachah?
(c) How fast must he be able to eat it?
(d) What do we learn from the Pasuk in Koheles "ve'Yosif Da'as Yosif

Pesach?

comprise?

(c) Both the Lulav and the Aravah were sometimes taken *six* days and

9)
(a) When the first day of Yom-Tov fell on Shabbos, they would take their
Lulavim to the Har ha'Bayis, and give them to the Shamashim. What happened
to them after that? How were they distributed the following morning?
(b) How did they circumvent the problem of using someone else's Lulav on the
first day?
(c) What did the elderly men do with their Lulavim, to avoid the inevitable
pushing?
10)
What caused Chazal to decree that, when the first day fell on Sukos, people
should rather take their Lulavim at home (and not take them to the Beis
Hamikdash)?
