Shabbos 127

1)

(a) Rebbi Acha forbids taking corn for one's animals from a pile of produce - unless he took some already before Shabbos, Rebbi Shimon permits it.
How much produce constitutes a pile in this regard?

(b) The Gemara asks, according to Rav Chisda, whether Lim'utei be'Hilucha Adif, or Lim'utei be'Masui.
What does this mean?

(c) Is there a proof from the two Beraisos, one which says that one may save four or five boxes containing jars of wine, the other, ten or fifteen? Are these two opinions not synonymous with the two sides of the Sha'alah? Does the first Beraisa not permit saving only in four or five boxes, the second one, even in ten or fifteen?

2)
(a) What does the Gemara prove from the episode when Rebbi (or Rebbi Chiya), after discovering that there was no room for the Talmidim, went into the field, and cleared all the sheaves for them?

(b) Is there also a proof from there that one person is permitted to clear the space for everybody - and that not everybody needs to do it for himself?

3)
(a) What does the Gemara prove from our Mishnah, which permits clearing the boxes of straw 1. for 'the guests and 2. because of Bitul Beis ha'Medrash'?

(b) And what does the Gemara prove from Avraham, who said to Hashem "Al Na Sa'avor me'Al Avdecha" (Vayera)?

(c) The Mishnah in Pe'ah lists the things for which one receives the fruits in this world: 'Kibud Av va'Em, Gemilus Chasadim, Hava'as Shalom Bein Adam la'Chavero - ve'Salmud Torah Keneged Kulam'. How can the Beraisa add Hachnasas Orchim, Bikur Cholim and Iyun Tefilah; Hashkamas Beis-ha'Medrash and Gidul Banim le'Talmud Torah; and Dan es Chavero le'Chaf Zechus to the list?

4)

(a) What did the employer reply, when his employee (the man from Gelil ha'Elyon) came to him on Erev Yom Kipur, and asked him for three years' remuneration?

(b) The employee thought (correctly, as it turned out) that he may have spent all his loose cash on a good deal that came his way. And when he said that he had no animals, he understood that all his animals were rented out. How did the employee (whose name was Akiva ben Yosef) interpret his employer (Rebbi Eliezer ben Hurkanus)'s reply, when he said that he had ...

  1. ... no land!'
  2. ... no fruit'!
  3. ... no movables, such as pillows and blankets?
(c) What was the employer response to Rebbi Akiva's incredible display of the Midah of Dan le'Kaf Zechus?
5)
(a) A certain Chasid (Rebbi Yehudah b'Rebbi Ilai or Rebbi Yehudah ben Bava) once went with his Talmidim to redeem a captive girl. What did his Talmidim think when, after they arrived at the inn, their Rebbe arranged the girl's bed at the foot of his own?

(b) And what did they think when, on the following morning, he went to Tovel in the Mikvah?

(c) What did Rebbi Yehoshua's Talmidim think when their Rebbe first removed his Tefilin, and then closed the door behind him, when he went to speak with an aristocratic woman?

(d) And what did they think when he went to Tovel in a Mikvah after he had spoken with her?

6)
(a) What Chidush is the Mishnah telling us when it says that Terumah Tehorah is not Muktzah? Why may we have thought that it is?

(b) What are the technical and Halachic differences between 'be'Shibolin' and 'Idgan'? When is a Levi Chayav to separate Terumah Gedolah and when is he not?

7)
(a) If someone redeems the Ma'aser Sheni or Hekdesh that he had himself been Makdish, without adding the required fifth, is the redemption valid?

(b) Does this mean that he is now exempt from paying the extra fifth?

(c) Why is a dry Turmus-bean Muktzah, but not a wet one?
