According to Rebbi Yosi b'Rebbi Yehudah, if a basket is placed on top of a
pole in Reshus ha'Rabim, the sides of the basket are Halachically
considered as if they descend to the ground. This is referred to as Gud
Achis. The basket therefore becomes a Reshus ha'Yachid, because it has an
area of four by four Tefachim and its sides are considered ten Tefachim
high.
