YISRO "I Am Hashem ,your G-d....................(20:2) Ultimately every man will fully recognize the existence of G-d Almighty. "I am Hashem ,your G-d........" is the first commandment of the Ten commandments, and at its core it essentially commands a Jew to discover G-d in this world. This is Mans challenge...............................However, because we are so entrenched in our bad habits and sins , G-ds presence seems to be hidden, yet somehow we feel His presence and intuitively acknowledge His existence................................................................ In Medrash Kohelles, its states the following:"Let your clothing always be white" (Koheles 9:8). A sailors wife used to always put on her finest clothing every day. Her friends asked her; for whom do you dress yourself with such finery? She replied to them, "My husband is a sailor. If his ship finds a strong wind, he may be at my doorstep before I know it. Better that he finds me attractive than unkept!!!!"(End of Quote) This sailors wife feels her husbands presence, eventhough he may be many miles away;yet shes constantly preparing herself as if hes nearby. Man should take a clue from this sailors wife ,and although G-d may at times seem to be far, in actuality He is very close. This being the case, our actions and deeds must always be in " tip top" shape.................This perception is very motivating indeed.....................Let us all make sure our "garments" are white and clean,so that we can never feel ashamed by our present spiritual state of being.... Have a Good Shabbos..............
