Shimini "And to Israel you shall say, Take a male goat for a sin- offering..................................................."(9:3) The Medrash Hagodal (9:3) comments that this male goat was offered as an atonement for the sin of selling Yosef. After Yosefs sale, the brothers had dipped Yosefs special garment into the blood of a goat. A question can be asked, why did Hashem choose the final inauguration day of the Mishkan (Tabernacle) as an opportune time to atone for Yosefs sale? Perhapes the answer is as follows: The seeds of the Egyptian exile in a sense started with the brothers selling Yosef into servitude. This came about through the brothers hatred towards Yosef...................Now that the SHCINA (G_DS DeVine Presence) wished to rest on the Mishkan, a rectification needed to be made that would atone for the brothers hatred. Remember, the Shcina will only reside where there is peace. It was, therefore, appropriate as a final end to the Egptian slavery that peace prevail among the Tribes, especially through the atonement of the brothers hostility towards Yosef. We ,therefore, learn how much Hashem abhors hatred, and desires peace. We must actively pursue peace, thus allowing Hashem into our domain with us. Have a Good Shabbos.................
