Miketz "and Yosef answered Paroh..........."It is not me; G-d will answer concerning the welfare of Paroh......." (41:16) Yosef at this particular moment was given an opportunity to prove his abilities to Paroh, and thus find refuge from his dire circumstances. Yet Yosef attributes all of his abilities to G-d, when he says: "It is not me". Yosef understood that he is only a conduit for G-ds ultimate purpose , and proudly proclaims this to Paroh...... When a person is given an opportunity for self aggrandizement, that is precisely the very moment a person must try to sanctify G-ds name. This is no easy task...........But we must realize that when G-ds name is sanctified through our own initiative ,there is no greater honor than that very act..........We are in essence connecting to Hash..........and acknowledging G-ds dominion over the universe. This made an impact on Paroh because later(41:38-39) Paroh himself says: "and Paroh said to his servants, "can we find such a man in whom the spirit of G-d is?"..."And Paroh said to Yosef ,"since G-d has caused you to know all this....." ........We see that through Yosefs Sanctification of G-ds name Paroh himself is changing his vernacular!!! Never underestimate the power of sanctifying G-ds name.........its potency can even pierce the heart of Paroh........Have a good Shabbos.......... |
