CHASIDIC INSIGHTS PARSHAS TZAV 5763 BS"D

Ch. 6, v. 2: "Tzav es Aharon v'es bonov leimore zose toras ho'oloh" - If Aharon and his sons, who are all the Kohanim in the world are told the laws of the "oloh" offering, what is the intention of the word "leimore"? Since the gemara M'nochos 110a derives from 'zose haTorah lo'oloh" (Vayikroh 7:37) that whoever learns the laws of the "oloh" offering it is considered as if he has brought it, Aharon and his sons are told "leimore," to say to the person who brings an "oloh" that learning the laws is equal to bringing it. (Rabbi Simchoh Bunim of Parshis'cha)

Ch. 6, v. 5: "V'ho'eish al hamizbei'ach tukad BO" - Should the verse not have said "tukad OLOV," burn ON it, the altar, rather than "tukad BO" - burn IN it? This phraseology alludes to the emotions the Kohein should have when doing the Mikdosh service. The fire of excitement and zeal shall burn IN HIM. (Imrei Emes)

Ch. 6, v. 6: "Aish tomid tukad al hamizbei'ach lo sichbeh" - If one serves Hashem with great enthusiasm, with a continuous fire, "aish tomid tukad al hamizbei'ach," then the evil inclination, which has the negative appellation "lo," will be extinguished, "sichbeh." (Baal Shem Tov)

Ch. 6, v. 20: "Kol asher YIGA bivsoroh yikdosh" - All that will come in contact with its flesh shall become sanctified. In 7:19 we find a similar expression regarding contacting impurity, "V'habosor asher YIGA b'chol to'mei lo yei'o'cheil," and the flesh that will come in contact with any impurity shall not be eaten. Rashi on our verse brings the gemara Z'vochim 97a which says that to become sanctified by contact with sacrificial flesh actually means more than just contact. It means to ABSORB from the flesh. This is derived from the word 'bivsoroh,' IN its flesh, absorbing that which was inside. If the verse only meant contact then it should have said "b'soroh." In 7:19, where contracting impurity is discussed, even simple contact is sufficient to transfer the impurity.

The Holy Admor Hazo'kein of Lubavitch points out that this teaches us an important lesson. For one to absorb sanctity requires more than just casual contact with those who are holy. It requires ABSORBING their elevated traits. However, to fall spiritually, to become impure, it is sufficient to just come into casual contact with that which is unholy.

Ch. 8, v. 4: "Va'yaas Moshe kaasher tzivoh Hashem oso vatiko'heil ho'eidoh" - After the death of the illustrious Admor of Vorke Rabbi Yitzchok, his son Rabbi Menachem Mendel took over the mantle of leadership. To his great surprise a very large number of Chasidim flocked to him. This caused him such great distress that he went to the Holy Admor of Kotzk and bemoaned that he felt that he was misleading people into believing that he was a great personage by allowing such a large amount of Chasidim to come to him. The Holy Kotzker responded, "Va'yaas Moshe kaasher tzivoh Hashem oso," we see that the leader did as Hashem commanded him, through the barometer of, "vatiko'heil ho'eidoh," if the masses assemble. (Mimaynos Ha'netzach)
