CHASIDIC INSIGHTS PARSHAS R'EI 5764 BS"D

Ch. 12, v. 5: "L'shichno sid'r'shu uvoso shomoh" - Why the change from plural, "sid'r'shu," to the singular, "uvoso"? Since the spirituality in the Mikdosh is a continuum of the stance at Har Sinai (see Rashi on gemara Beitzoh 5a and Taanis 21a, Ibn Ezra on Shmos 19:13), we must come united as one, just as the Har Sinai experience, "va'yichan" (Shmos 19:2). (M'oros Aish)

Ch. 12, v. 21: "V'zovachto .. v'ochalto" - Rabbi Mordechai of Tchernobel would not eat meat from an animal that was slaughtered by a "shochet" who spoke falsehood. He would say that the gemara Chulin 17, which says that Raboh would check with his tongue, not only has the simple meaning that he tested the edge of the slaughtering blade with his tongue for imperfections, but also that he checked the tongue of the "shochet" to make sure he spoke no falsehood.

Ch. 13, v. 5: "V'oso saavodu" - Rashi says "b'mik'd'sho." Each ben Yisroel is required to create a sanctuary within his heart, "v'shanti b'sochOM" (Shmos 25:8). This is Rashi's intention, "b'mik'd'sho," in each person's personal sanctuary, in his heart. (M'oroh Shel Torah)

Ch. 15, v. 7: "Lo s'a'meitz es l'vovcho" - A ben Yisroel is by nature a compassionate person. To be able to say no requires a specific effort to harden one's heart. (N'tzi"v)

Ch. 15, v. 10: "Nosone ti'tein lo v'lo yeira l'vovcho b'sitcho lo" - Give even if you have only a small amount to give. Do not fell bad in your heart that you are only giving such a paltry sum since your intention is pure. (Rebbe Reb Simchoh Bunim of Parshis'cha)
