CHASIDIC INSIGHTS PARSHAS P'KUDEI 5763 BS"DCh. 38, v. 21: "F'kudei haMishkon" - The altruistic emotions of giving generously remain for safekeeping, "f'kudei = pikodon," for all future generations. (Rabbi Gershon Chanoch Henoch of Radzin in Sode Y'shorim) Ch. 38, v. 23: "Chorosh v'chosheiv" - Before one allows a word to escape his lips he should first keep quiet, "chorosh," and think, "v'chosheiv," before he decides if he should speak. (Nirreh li) Ch. 38, v. 27: "M'as adonim" - A person should mention Hashem is his Master 100 times a day, through "mei'oh v'rochos b'chol yom." (Nirreh li) Ch. 38, v. 28: "V'tzipoh rosheihem v'chishak osom" - And he who looks towards the heads, our Patriarchs, to guide his actions, Hashem has great desire for them. (Rabbi Yisroel of Modzitz in Divrei Yisroel) Ch. 39, v. 3: "Va'y'raku es pachei hazohov v'kitzeitz p'silim" - The gold components of the Mishkon most directly served as a reminder of the sin of the golden calf. To minimize its negative effect, it was flattened very thin and cut very narrow. (Kedushas Levi) Ch. 39, v. 32: "Asher tzivoh Hashem es Moshe kein ossu" - It is only natural that when involved with such lofty work as creating the components of the Mishkon people would imbue their handiwork with their own personal spiritual intentions. However, the verse relates that they did this with only one intention, to do as Hashem commanded Moshe. (Nirreh li) Ch. 39, v. 43: "Ossu osoh .. kein ossu" - There is a celestial Mikdosh that corresponds to the Mikdosh on the earth. As they made the Mishkon below, "ossu osoh," likewise they created in the heavens, "kein ossu." (Imrei Emes in Likutei Yehudoh) Ch. 39, v. 43: "Va'y'vo'rech osom Moshe" - Rashi says that Moshe's blessing was, "May it be the will (of Hashem) that the Holy Spirit permeate that which your hands wrought." This blessing was not limited to the work of their hands in creating the Mishkon, but also included all their endeavours. (Rabbi Shlomo of Radomsk in Tiferes Shlomo) Ch. 40, v. 17: "Hukam haMishkon" - Rashi (39:33) says that no one was able to even set the wall beams upright because of their tremendous weight. Moshe was given the task of assembling the Mishkon. He too asked Hashem how it would be possible. Hashem responded that he should put in the effort and it will happen n its own. We now understand why Moshe was given this task. Anyone else would have attributed the success of assembly to himself. Moshe was consciously aware that he did his best and Hashem did the rest. How often do we apply ourselves to some matter, and upon its successful completion pat ourselves on the back? (Rabbi Mordechai of Lisitz in Darchei Ho'emunoh)
