CHASIDIC INSIGHTS PARSHAS MISHPOTIM 5763 BS"DCh. 23, v. 25: "Va'avad'tem .. u'veirach es lach'm'cho" - The verse begins in the plural form, "va'avad'TEM," but ends in the singular form, "lach'm'CHO, mei'meCHO." Even if two people do the same activity in serving Hashem they are not necessarily putting in equal effort. Each one has a set of circumstances that make an act easier or harder for him. With the maxim of ben Hei Hei, "l'fum tzaaro agro" (Pirkei Ovos 5:26), reward is commensurate with effort expended, each person will get his personal reward, hence "lach'm'CHO, mei'meCHO," in the singular. (Nirreh Li) Ch. 23, v. 26: "Lo s'h'yeh m'sha'keiloh vaakoroh b'artzecho" - In your land, Eretz Yisroel, there will be no person missing. (Rabbi Ben Zion of Bobov in Kedushas Zion) Ch. 23, v. 30: "M'at m'at agorshenu mipo'necho" - If you are of humble spirit, "m'at m'at," then I, Hashem, will chase the evil inclination away from you. (Rabbi Isomor of Konskovalle in Mishmeres Isomor ) Ch. 24, v. 6: "Chatzi hadom" - Rashi (M.R. Vayikro 6:5) says that an angel came and divided it exactly in half. What is the importance of the blood being divided EXACTLY in half? Since half was thrown onto the altar and half onto the bnei Yisroel, this teaches us that our inter-personal actions and our spiritual actions are of equal significance. (Shomati) Ch. 24, v. 7: "Kole asher di'ber Hashem" - Even though their impure spirit had been cleansed, "poskoh zuhamoson," and they were on the level of being able to comprehend the Torah even without it being told to them, as was the case with our Patriarchs, nevertheless, they wanted to hear it from Hashem, as one who is commanded to do is greater than one who is not (gemara Kidushin 31a). (Rabbi Moshe of Dolina in Divrei Moshe) Ch. 24, v. 7: "Naa'seh v'nishmo" - The bnei Yisroel were so eager to do Hashem's bidding that they said that whatever they were able to fulfill they would fulfill, and whatever they could not fulfill, i.e. mitzvos that did apply to a particular person, such as mitzvos specifically for a man, they would eagerly listen to their details. (Rabbi Yisoschor Dov of Belz) Ch. 24, v. 12: "Asher kosavti l'horosom" - The written Torah, "asher kosavti," is but a conception, "l'horosom." The gestation, the full development, is through the oral Torah. (Rabbi Shlomo of Radomsk in Tiferes Shlomo)
