CHASIDIC INSIGHTS PARSHAS KI SISO 5765 BS"DCh. 30, v. 12: "Kofer nafsho laShem" - One should cover, hide, his spirituality from the public eye. Then his service is "laShem." (Nirreh li) Ch. 30, v. 13: "Zeh yitnu kol ho'oveir al hapkudim machatzis" - This is what they shall give all who have transgressed upon the commands, a half. They should break their haughty spirit in half and from now on serve Hashem with humility. (N'sivos Sholo-m of Slonim) Ch. 30, v. 15: "He'oshir lo yarbeh v'hadal lo yamit" - He who is rich in mitzvos shall not swell his mitzvos, giving himself more credit than he actually deserves. He who is destitute of mitzvos shall not diminish himself to the point of giving up hope of ever improving. He should have a positive outlook on his future, coupled with improving himself. (Rabbi Mayer of Premishlan) Ch. 30, v. 20: "Yirchatzu mayim" - They shall cleanse water. A person readily understands that he has to purify his drinking tasty and intoxicating drink. Our verse tells us that even when drinking simple water one can be very indulgent, and even this requires cleansing. (Rabbi Shmuel of Slonim in Divrei Shmuel) Ch. 30, v. 24: "V'kidoh cha'meish" - And kneeling, being humble, is powerful weaponry, as in "vachamushim," against the evil inclination. (Nirreh li) Ch. 31, v. 13: "Ach es Shabsosai" - "Ach" is an expression of limitation, while "es" is an expression of addition. If one keeps the laws of Shabbos and thus limits his income, he will actually expand it, as per the words of the Holy Zohar, "d'mi'nei misborchin shita yomin," that the blessing of the 6 weekdays comes from Shabbos. (Nirreh li)
