CHASIDIC INSIGHTS PARSHAS CHUKAS-BOLOK 5762 BS"DPARSHAS CHUKASCh. 19, v. 2: "Zose chukas haTorah" - "Chukas" can be understood as "etched," from the word source "chakikoh." The Torah should be etched into the heart of every ben Yisroel. (Rabbi Aryeh Leib of Ozshrov in B'eir Moshe) Ch. 19, v. 2: "Zose chukas haTorah" - "Chukas" can be understood as "sustenance," from the word source "v'ochlu es CHUKOM." The Torah should be the life sustenance of every ben Yisroel. (Rabbi Yitzchok Yaakov of Biala) Ch. 19, v. 2: "Zose chukas haTorah" - Rashi says that satan and the nations of the world aggravate Yisroel and ask, "What kind of mitzvoh is this and what is the logic for it?" Their intention is to have us explain that it is an act that atones for the sin of the golden calf. Their intention is to have us bring up that incriminating sin. Therefore we should not give any reason and just state that it is a statute, and we simply comply with Hashem's will. (Rabbi Avrohom Chaim of Zlotchov in Kedushas Levi) Ch. 19, v. 2: "Asher ein boh moom asher lo oloh o'lehoh ole" - If one feels that he has no flaw, "asher ein boh moom," it is a sure sign that, "asher lo oloh o'lehoh ole," that person has not accepted upon himself "ole malchus shomayim," the yoke of accepting the reign of Hashem. (The Holy Kozshnitzer Magid in Avodas Yisroel) PARSHAS BOLOK Ch. 22, v. 3: "Va'yogor Moav mipnei ho'om m'ode ki rav hu" - The Moabites greatly feared the bnei Yisroel because they, the Moabites, were many. Since there were so many more Moabites that bnei Yisroel, logically they had nothing to fear. Yet they still felt afraid. This alone caused them great fear. (Rabbi Yoseif Moshe of Zolozhitz in Bris Avrom) Ch. 22, v. 5: "Hi'nei am yotzo miMitzrayim hi'nei chisoh es einho'oretz" - Bolok falsified the ancestry of the bnei Yisroel. He claimed that they left Egypt their homeland, and that they cover over this fact, "hi'nei chisoh es einho'oretz." In truth they have a very holy source. They are the descendants of Avrohom, Yitzchok, and Yaakov. (Rabbi Elozor of Tornegrad in Noam M'godim) Ch. 22, v. 12: "Lo so'ore es ho'om" - The word "om" denotes the people of the lower echelon, the lowly of the nation. They should not be cursed, as even they are blessed. (Rabbi Moshe of Ujhel in Yismach Moshe) Ch. 22, v. 26: "Va'yosef malach Hashem avore va'yaamode b'mokome tzor" - Whenever the bnei Yisroel are in dire straits, "b'mokome tzor," an angel of mercy, "malach Hashem," is sent to extricate them. (Rabbi Eliezer of Wiznitz in Da'mesek Eliezer) Ch. 22, v. 31: "Va'y'gal Hashem es einei Vilom va'yar es Malach Hashem" - Only after Bilom was greatly embarrassed by the donkey and a bit of his haughtiness was knocked out of him, was he able to see the angel. (Rabbi Avrohom of Avritch in Bas Ayin)
