Questions
1)
(a) We learned in our Mishnah that if one Chatas ha'Meisah falls into many
Kasher Korbanos, they must all die. What is strange about this ruling is -
that it contradicts the Pasuk "Acharei Rabim Lehatos" (the source of the
ruling that we always go after the majority ['Holchin Achar Rov']).
(b) Initially, we answer - that animals are considered Chashuv, and
something that is Chashuv is not Bateil (mi'de'Rabbanan).
(c) Orlah and K'lai ha'Kerem normally become Batel in two hundred.
Nevertheless, Rebbi Meir, in a Mishnah in Orlah, say that bundles of Tilsan
(fenugreek - a kind of spice or legume) of K'lai ha'Kerem are not Bateil in
two hundred - because whatever is sold by number, is not Bateil (as we shall
see shortly).

(a) According to the Chachamim, the only six 'fruits' that do not become
Batel are nuts from Perech (possibly coconuts), pomegranates from Baden,
sealed barrels of wine, young mangold (a type of beet)-shoots, the cabbage
of Eretz Yisrael (which used to be as large as a tree) and a Greek gourd,
to which Rebbi Akiva added - privately-baked loaves.
(b) The Isur of ...
1. ... Orlah (but not K'lai ha'Kerem) - applies to the nuts, the
pomegranates and the barrels of wine ...
2. ... K'lai ha'Kerem (but not Orlah) - to the mangold, the cabbage and the
gourd.
(c) Rebbi Meir learns 'es she'Darko Limanos', which is how Rebbi Yochanan
interprets it. Resh Lakish's version is -'Kol she'Darko Limanos'.
(d) The ramifications of their Machlokes are - whether Rebbi Meir
incorporates even species that are only sometimes sold by number but not
always (Resh Lakish), or not (Rebbi Yochanan).
3)
(a) The initial answer to our Kashya conforms with Resh Lakish's version of
Rebbi Meir in the Mishnah in Orlah. It does not however, conform with Rebbi
Yochanan's version - because animals are sometimes sold by the herd, and not
by numbers.
(b) Rav Papa establishes our Mishnah like the Tana of Litra Ketzi'os - a
Litra measure of dried figs.
(c) That Tana holds - whatever is sold by number (even 'Kol she'Darko
Limanos') is not subject to Bitul.
(d) He adds 'Afilu bi'de'Rabbanan', because the Terumah of all fruit, other
than grapes and olives (including Litra Ketzi'os), is only mi'de'Rabbanan.
