1) [line 5] L'AHADUREI L'ELAZAR - to return [the subject of the verses] to Elazar, [requiring that he do the Kabalas ha'Dam of the first Parah Adumah]

2) [line 12] B'CHIHUNO - (lit. while in his priesthood) the preparation of the first Parah Adumah had to be done by a Kohen who is wearing his priestly garments

3) [line 12] KOHEN B'CHIHUNO L'DOROS - the preparation of the Parah Adumah in subsequent generations must be done by a Kohen who is wearing his priestly garments

4) [line 4] TEVUL YOM
A Tevul Yom is a person or utensil that has been immersed in a Mikvah to become Tahor for Chulin, but is still waiting for nightfall to be completely Tahor with regard to Terumah. The level of Tum'ah of a Tevul Yom is minimal; he or it is considered only a Sheni l'Tum'ah and if he or it touches Terumah or Kodesh, the Terumah or Kodesh becomes Pasul and must be burned. Chulin that he or it touches do not become Teme'im. After the following nightfall, he or it becomes completely Tahor with regard to Terumah.

(a) Chafinah was one of the hardest Avodos done in the Beis ha'Mikdash (Yoma 47b, Menachos 11a). When the Kohen Gadol entered the Kodesh ha'Kodashim to burn the special incense of Yom ha'Kipurim, he carried a spoon of Ketores and a pan of burning coals. He placed the pan of coals on the floor, poured the Ketores from the spoon into his palms and spread the Ketores on the coals, as the verse specifies (Vayikra 16:12-13).
(b) In order to pour the Ketores into his palms, he needed to hold the bowl of the spoon in his fingertips, inching the handle upward with his thumbs (that were under the spoon) until he was able to grasp the handle between his elbows. He then twisted the handle of the spoon over with his elbows, pouring the Ketores into his palms, being careful not to spill any of it (Rashi Yoma 49b). Alternatively, he held the upturned spoon in his fingertips or teeth, sweeping the Ketores into his palms with his thumbs (Rambam Hilchos Avodas Yom ha'Kipurim 4:1)

*19*) [line 45] MIN HA'KITON SHEL ZAHAV - (This was done either in order to honor the Kohen Gadol during the Avodah of Yom Kipur, or simply out of utility, since the Kohen Gadol had to perform Kidush Yadayim v'Raglayim twice for each of his five Tevilos on Yom Kipur, and his Tevilos were performed far from the place where the Kiyor stood in the Azarah -- see Insights)
