Shekalim 20
1)
(a) The Gemara brings two episodes where barrels of wine were lost and later
found, and the Sha'leh was asked whether the wine was forbidden because
perhaps it was non-Jewish wine. What did Rebbi Yitzchak b'Rebbi Elazar
and Rebbi Yirmiyah respectively, rule?
(b) A roasted kid was found on a main road. Why was the finder permitted
to keep it?
(c) Why was there no problem that perhaps it was a Neveilah?
(d) Whose kid did it turn out to have been?
2)
(a) Which two rulings did they issue with regard to the round cheese that
was found in Levi's inn?
(b) Rebbi Mana asked Rebbi Yossi on the previous Din from the many Rabbanan
whom he had seen announcing articles that they had found in similar
circumstances. What did he answer him?
(c) What did Rebbi Yonah (Rebbi Mana's father) do when he actually found
something in a public place?
Halachah 3
3)
(a) What was an animal that was found outside Yerushalayim as far as Migdal
Eider considered to be, if it was ...
- ... a male?
- ... a female?
(b) What does Rebbi Yehudah say about such an animal if it is fit to be
brought as a Korban Pesach?
(c) Initially, Beis-Din would take a security from the person who found such
an animal. What was the purpose of this security?
(d) What made them stop doing that, and what basic change did they initiate
regarding the Nesachim?
4)
(a) According to Rebbi Shimon, this is the first of seven institutions that
Beis-Din instituted. What did they decree regarding ...
- ... a gentile who sent his Olah, and regarding a convert who died, leaving sacrifices that needed to be brought?
- ... the Minchah of a Kohen Gadol who died (according to the Tana Kama)?
(b) What does Rebbi Yehudah hold with regard to the Minchah of a Kohen Gadol
who died?
5)
(a) According to both Rebbi Shimon and Rebbi Yehudah, in what way did the
Minchah of the Kohen Gadol differ when it was brought after his death?
(b) What did they decree with regard to ...
- ... the salt and the wood of the Korbanos?
- ... the ashes of the Parah Adumah?
- ... Pasul Kinin? What are Pasul Kinin?
(c) What does Rebbi Yossi hold by Pasul Kinin?
6)
(a) Our Mishnah obligates someone who finds a male animal to bring it as an
Olah. Rebbi Hoshaya does not interpret this literally? How *does* he
interpret it?
(b) Rebbi Yochanan explains the Mishnah literally. Why does Rebbi Yochanan
not want to learn the Mishnah like Rebbi Hoshaya?
(c) What is the problem with *his* explanation?
(d) What does the Gemara mean when it asks 'Keitzad Hu Oseh, Motzi'in
le'Chulin, ve'Chozer ve'Oseh Osan Olos'?
7)
(a) How do we ultimately explain Rebbi Yochanan? How *can* we bring every
female as an Olah, when it may well be a Shelamim?
(b) Why is this not considered as if he had deliberately redeemed an
unblemished Kodshim animal (from a Shelamim to an Olah) - just like Rebbi
Yochanan himself asked on Rebbi Hoshaya
Answers to questions

8)
(a) According to Rebbi Yochanan, the Kohen Gadol declares his Asiris
ha'Eifah Kodesh only after he has divided it into two halves. Why does it
not become Kadosh automatically in the K'li in which he measured it?
(b) What does Resh Lakish hold?
(c) What does the Mishnah in Menachos mean when it says 'Makriv Mechtzah,
u'Mechtzah Avad'? Why is this a Kashya on Rebbi Yochnanan?
(d) How do we defend Rebbi Yochanan from his own statement regarding the
money of the Asiris ha'Eifah?
9)
(a) If the Kohen Gadol died after bringing the first half of his Minchah,
and they then appointed a new Kohen Gadol, what happens to the second half
of the first Kohen Gadol's Minchah and to the first half of the second Kohen
Gadol's?
(b) How does this Mishnah too, appear to disprove Rebbi Yochanan?
(c) How does Rebbi Yochanan explain it?
10)
(a) When does a Kohen Hedyot bring an Asiris ha'Eifah?
(b) Who brings it for him? What happens if he or the Kohen Gadol performs
the Avodah before bringing his Minchah (see Hagahos ha'Gra)?
(c) How many Menachos does a Kohen bring if, on the day that he is initiated
to serve as a Kohen, he is appointed Kohen Gadol?
(d) What do we learn from the words "Murbeches Tevi'enah Tufinei" (in Tzav)?
How do we reconcile this with the Mishnah in Tamid, which specifically
permits him to begin preparing the Chavitin as soon as he gets up - before
dawn-break? Note: The Asiris ha'Eifah, the Minchas Kohen Gadol and the
Minchas Chavitin are one and the same thing.
11)
(a) Some say that the Chavitin was first fried in a pan and then baked.
What do others say?
(b) What does the above Machlokes have to do with the two acronyms of
Te'afenah quoted in the Beraisa:
- 'Te'afeh *Na*' (according to the Tana Kama)?
- 'Te'afeh Na'eh' (according to Rebbi)?
(c) Rebbi Dosa says 'Te'afeh Ribah' (or 'Rakah'). What does that mean?
12)
(a) We learnt earlier that if the Kohen Gadol died, the second Kohen Gadol
must bring a complete Isaron, of which he only sacrifes half. The same will
apply if the first Kohen Gadol became Tamei. Will it also apply if he
became a Ba'l Mum (blemished)?
(b) What does Rebbi Yehudah learn from the Pasuk in Tzav ...
- ... "mi'Banav Ya'aseh ..."?
- ... "Osah"?
(c) And what does Rebbi Shimon learn from the Pasuk there ...
- ... "Chok Olam" (according to the Hagahos ha'Gra)?
- ... "Kalil Taktar" (according to the Korban ha'Eidah's second explanation)?
(d) How do we reconcile Rebbi Shimon in the Mishnah, where he says that it
is only a *Takanah* of the Beis-Din - that the Asiris ha'Eifah of a Kohen
Gadol who died comes from the Tzibur (i.e. the Terumas ha'Lishkah), with his
opinion in the Beraisa, where he says that it comes from the Tzibur
*mi'd'Oraysa*?
