prepared by Rabbi Eliezer Chrysler

Previous daf

Shabbos 95

1)

(a) What is the difference, according to Rebbi Shimon ben Elazar, between a woman who plats her own hair, paints her own eyes or arranges a pack on her own face, and one who does any of these for another woman?

(b) According to Rebbi Eliezer, Cholev, Mechabetz and Megaben are all Chayav.
What do all of these mean, and of which Avos are they Toldos?

(c) When they said to Rav Nachman bar Guria 'Rabach Katla Kani be'Agma', what did they mean?

(d) What do the Rabbanan hold in the above cases?

2)
(a) Rebbi Eliezer is also Mechayev someone who sweeps and who sprinkles water to settle the dust.
Of which Av are these Toldos?

(b) What does Rebbi Eliezer learn from the Pasuk in Shmuel "va'Yitbol Osah be'Ya'aras ha'Devash"?

3)
(a) On what grounds did Ameimar permit the settling of dust throughout the town of Mechuza?

(b) What procedure would someone who suffered from the dust be permitted to follow anyway?

(c) What is the Gemara's final comment on this matter?

4)
(a) Someone who detaches from a plant-pot without a hole is Patur.
What is the Din - according to the Rabbanan - if he detaches from a plant-pot with a hole at the *side* of the pot?

(b) What does Rebbi Shimon hold with regard to plant-pots?

(c) According to Rebbi Shimon, is there any difference between a pot with a hole and one without, with regard to acquiring with a Kinyan Meshichah or with money, and with regard to writing a Peruzbul (which can only be written if the borrower owns land)?

(d) What does Rebbi Shimon learn from the Pasuk in Shemini "Al Kol Zera Zeru'a Asher Yizarei'a"?

Answers to questions

95b---------------------------------------95b

5)

(a) Rebbi Zeira once said that Rebbi Shimon concedes that a plant-pot with a hole the size of 'Bichdei Taharaso' loses its identity as a plant-pot, so that the seeds inside are considered attached to the ground.
What is the Shiur or 'Bichdei Taharaso'?

(b) In light of that statement, what did that old man say to Rebbi Zeira regarding what he had previously said about 'Shoresh Keneged Nekev'?

(c) Abaye gave a different Shiur in Rebbi Zeira than the previous one. What was it?

6)
(a) What is a Gistera, and what is the size of the hole which will render it no longer fit to receive Tum'ah?

(b) Why does such a small size hole render the Gistera no longer fit? Why can he not fetch another piece of clay to place underneath the Gistera?

7)
(a) What size hole will render an earthenware vessel ...
  1. ... unfit to be used for Mei Chatas?
  2. ... a vessel with a hole - with regard to the plant-pots currently under discussion?
  3. ... no longer subject to Tum'ah at all (because it is no longer
  4. considered a vessel)?
(b) What is the significance of a hole the size of a pomegranate?

(c) To what is the Shiur of 'Ad she'Yipase'ach Rubo' applicable?

8) With regard to the size hole of plant-pots (mentioned in the previous question (a) 2., another Shiur is given. The Si'man for the two Shiurim is 'Echad ha'Marbeh, ve'Echad ha'Mam'it'.
What does the Si'man stand for?

9) Rava just gave the size hole which allows Tum'ah into a sealed earthenware vessel as the majority of the vessel. Then why did he tell Rav Asi that the size (of a hole in the same sealed earthenware vessel) is that of a pomegranate?

10)

(a) Rebbi Eliezer is quoted as saying that the Shiur of a hole in earthenware vessels is the size of an olive, and that they are then like stone or marble vessels.
What does this mean?

(b) How does one then explain the Mishnah in Keilim, which specifies the size of a hole in private vessels as that of a pomegranate, before the vessel loses its identity?

Hadran Alach, 'ha'Matzni'a'!
