prepared by Rabbi Eliezer Chrysler

Pesachim 9
1)
(a) We are not worried that maybe a weasel carried away some Chametz to
another room or to another corner in the room that he has just examined.
What what would be the ramifications if we were?
(b) Why are we not worried that perhaps it *did*?
2)
(a) The Mishnah says in Ohalos 'Meduros ha'Akum Temei'im'. Why is that?
How long must the gentile have lived in the house before that will apply?
(b) Does it make any difference whether he is married or not?
(c) When will this Chashash Tum'ah not apply?
(d) How does *that* Mishnah appear to clash with *our's*?
3)
(a) Rebbi Zeira reconciles the two Mishnahs: one of them, he says, speaks
about meat, the other, about bread. What does he mean?
(b) Rava does not like the Kashya in the first place. Why not? Why is
our Mishnah not comparable to the Mishnah in Ohalos?
(c) 'Chaver she'Mes, ve'Hini'ach Megurah Me'lei'ah Peiros, va'Afilu Hen
B'nei Yoman, Harei Hen be'Chezkas Mesukanim'. For which two reasons will
'Ein Safek Motzi mi'Yedei Vadai' not apply there?
(d) What does 'B'nei Yoman' mean? From when are they B'nei Yoman?
4)
(a) If someone brings un-winnowed crops into his house, and performs the
winnowing and the Miru'ach there, he is permitted to feed his animals from
those crops. Is *he* permitted to eat from those crops himself?
(b) Is he also restricted to feeding his *animals* casually?
(c) Why, in the Beraisa, is he completely Patur from Ma'asros?

5)
(a) Do the Dinim of Tum'as Yoledes apply to a non-Jewish slave-girl?
(b) Why did the Kohen peep into the pit in which one of the family slaves
had had a miscarriage?
(c) Should he have done that?
(d) The Chachamim declared him Tahor because it was an area where various
kinds of weasels lived, so they relied on the fact that the miscarriage
had been eaten. Why did 'Ein Safek Motzi mi'Yedei Vadai' not apply
there (two reasons)?
6)
(a) What is the discrepancy between our Mishnah (which does not contend
with the possibility that a weasel may have dragged the Chametz away) and
the next Mishnah? What does the next Mishnah say?
(b) The Gemara tries to establish our Mishnah on the *thirteenth* of
Nisan, and the next Mishnah, on the *fourteenth*. How would that resolve
the difficulty?
(c) What is wrong with that answer?
(d) How does Rava finally establish the second Mishnah to answer the
question?
7)
(a) What will be the Din if, in a house that has already been examined,
there are ten piles of bread, nine of them - Matzah, and one - Chametz,
and we see a mouse taking from one of them, but we don't know from which
one? Does the house require Bedikah?
(b) Will this still be the case, if the mouse took the piece of bread from
the floor, after someone had, without our knowledge, taken it from one of
the piles, and placed it there?
(c) And what will be the din if there were two piles, one of Matzah and
one of Chametz, and two mice came and took a piece, one from the one pile,
and one from the other (though we don't know which is which), and one of
the mice went into a room that was examined, the other into a room that
was not? Do either of the rooms require Bedikah or not?
(d) How does the Gemara deal with the problem that the Beraisa of 'Shtei
Kupos' (the source of the previous ruling) is talking about Terumah
de'Rabbanan, whereas Chametz is an Isur d'Oraysa, so how can we compare
them?
