***************GIRSA SECTION********************
We recommend using the textual changes suggested by the Bach, Rav B. Rensburg
and the parenthetical marginal notes of the Vilna Shas. This section is
devoted to any *OTHER* changes that we feel ought to be made in Gemara,
Rashi or Tosfos.)
[1] Rashi 12a DH k'Shiur Veses:
The word "b'Chatas" is the beginning of a new Dibur
[2] Rashi 12a DH Erah:
The words "Aval Yeshenah" are the beginning of a new Dibur
[3] Rashi 12b DH v'Lo Peros:
The words "she'Ochel Ba'alah"
should be "she'Achal Ba'alah"
************************************************
*1*) [line 1] MAHU SHE'TIVDOK ATZMAH L'VA'ALAH - That is, if she does *not*
deal with Taharos
2) [line 5] K'SHI'UR VESES - immediately
3) [line 8] MASHKOF - lintel
4) [line 9] HEVEI - it is evident from this
5a) [line 9] L'KINU'ACH - for a wipe (on the outside)
b) [line 10] LI'BEDIKAH - for an internal check
6) [line 12] ASHAM TALUY
If a person is in doubt whether or not he unwittingly committed a
transgression (for which a Korban Chatas is brought if he definitely
transgressed), he must bring an Asham Taluy. Through bringing this Korban,
the person is atoned for the possible sin he might have transgressed
*until* he discovers for certain that he has indeed transgressed the sin,
at which point he must bring a Korban Chatas.
7) [line 15] EDAN SHEL TZENU'OS - the Bedikah cloth of modest woman; alt.,
IDAN - the checking time of modest woman
8) [line 28] ERAH - awake
9) [line 34] CHAMARIN - donkey-drivers
*10*) [line 42] L'OLAM BESHE'YESH LAH VESES - The Gemara is forced to
explain that the Beraisa is dealing with a woman who *has* a Veses. If she
does not have a Veses, then even if she is sleeping she must *arise*;
Tevi'ah will certainly not suffice when she is sleeping
12b---------------------------------------12b
11) [line 1] SODANI (SUDNI) - (a) Talmid Chacham; (b) beer maker
12) [line 1] D'MIGANYA B'APEI - she becomes loathsome to him
13) [line 7] PEROS (NICHSEI MI'LUG)
One of the stipulations of a Kesuvah is that the husband may eat the
produce of his wife's field
14) [line 8] MEZONOS
One of the stipulation of the Kesuvah is that the husband will work in
order to support his wife
15) [line 8] BELA'OS (NICHSEI TZON BARZEL)
If the properties that the wife owned before marriage were estimated and
their value was written in the Kesuvah, the husband may wear them, even if
he wears them out. If he later divorces her, he must return their remnants.
According to Rebbi Meir, a woman who has no Veses does not receive the
remnants back.
16a) [line 10] HEN IVSUHA - they corrupted and forbade her
b) [line 10] HEN TIKNUHA - they prepared and permitted her
*17*) [line 11] OY LO L'VA'ALAH - As the Gemara explains, Aba Chanan means
to argue either with the Tana Kama or with Rebbi Chanina. These are the
last words of the Beraisa; from here on begins the Gemara's explanation of
the Beraisa.
18) [line 16] D'HADRAH V'ASKENAH - she developed a Veses
19) [line 22] L'AGBUYAH - to pay her
