A person may pay his debts by transferring his ownership of a plot of land
into the hands of his creditor. For this purpose, Chazal classified plots of
land using three levels of quality: Ziburis - the poorest quality, Beinonis -
average quality and Idis - the highest quality. Damages (Nezikin) are
reimbursed with Idis. Standard loans (Halva'os) and debts (Chovos) are repaid
using Beinonis. Debts owed by orphans or the value of a Kesuvah are paid
using Ziburis.

continued as a great commercial city and in the 1st century CE had a
population of 600,000. The city was partly burned by the Roman emperor Trajan
in 116 CE, and in 164 CE it was completely destroyed by the Roman general
Avidius Cassius in his campaign against the Parthians. The destruction of
Seleucia marked the end of Hellenistic civilization in Mesopotamia.
