Kesuvos 7

KESUVOS 6-9 - have been anonymously dedicated by a unique Ohev Torah and Marbitz Torah living in Ramat Beit Shemesh, Israel.

1) [line 1] PAKID V'AKIR - stored up inside the abscess but separated [from the flesh]

(a) The Mishnah (Megilah 7b) states that the only difference between Shabbos and Yom Tov is that the preparation of food is permitted on Yom Tov. This is learned from the Pasuk "Ach Asher Ye'achel L'chol Nefesh Hu Levado Ye'aseh Lachem." - "Only that which is done so that everyone will be able to eat, only that may be done by you." (Shemos 12:16). This verse excludes food preparation from the prohibitions of Yom Tov.
(b) All Melachos of Shabbos are prohibited on Yom Tov even if they are done expressly for the purpose of food preparation, except for the Melachos of Hotza'ah mi'Reshus li'Reshus (transferring objects from one domain to another) and Hav'arah (kindling or transferring flames), which are necessary for food preparation. (RAMBAM Hilchos Yom Tov 1:4)
(c) "Mitoch" states that since the Torah permits certain Melachos on Yom Tov for the sake of food preparation, those Melachos are completely permitted, even for matters not relating to food preparation. For a further discussion of this topic, see Insights to Beitzah 12:1.

4) [line 23] TZAIDAN - a small city that was situated north of Lake Kineres, to the east of the Yarden River (not to be confused with Tzidon, Sidon, located on the southern coast of Lebanon)
