1)
(a) Beis Shamai in our Mishnah requires a Katan to be able to ride on his
father's shoulders from Yerushalayim until the Har ha'Bayis. Seeing as
his mother is not Chayav Re'iyah, how did he get to Yerushalayim in the
first place (i.e. a child who does not need his mother constantly by his
side is certainly able to walk to the Har ha'Bayis holding his father's
hand)?
(b) From where do we know that a woman is obligated to fulfill the Mitzvah
of Simchah together with her husband?
(c) What problem did Rebbi have with Beis Shamai from the Pasuk in Shmuel,
which describes how Chanah did not take Shmuel to the Mishkan until he was
weaned?
(d) We counter this by asking that (even according to Beis Hillel)pointing
out that Chanah herself should have gone to Shiloh in order to fulfill the
Mitzvah of Simchah. How do we subsequently answer both Kashyos with one
stroke?
2)
(a) Resh Lakish asks whether, according to Beis Shamai, a Katan who is lame
is Chayav Re'iyah. Why did he not ask the same She'eilah according to Beis
Hillel?
(b) What She'eilah *did* he add according to both Beis Shamai and Beis
Hillel?
(c) Is a blind or lame grown-up who is curable Patur from Re'iyah?
(d) So what is the Din regarding a blind Katan according to everyone) or a
lame Katan (according to Beis Shamai) ...
- ... if he is incurable?
- ... stands to be cured before he becomes a Gadol (Resh Lakish's She'eilah)?
3)
(a) According to Beis Shamai, the Olas Re'iyah must be more expensive than
the Shalmei Chagigah for two reasons; *one* of them, because it goes
entirely to Hashem. What is the *other*?
(b) According to Beis Hillel, the Shalmei Chagigah is the more expensive of
the two. He too, has two reasons; one, because they, unlike the Olos
Re'iyah, were brought before Matan Torah. When was that?
(c) What is Beis Hillel's second reason?
4)
(a) On what grounds do Beis Hillel ...
- ... (disagree with Beis Shamai and) consider the Chagigah (a Shelamim) more significant than a the Re'iyah (an Olah)?
- ... prefer to learn from the Shelamim of the Nesi'im, rather than from the Olos of Shavu'os (like Beis Shamai)?
(b) And on what grounds do Beis Shamai ...
- ... reject Beis Hillel's proof from Shelamim having been brought before Matan Torah?
- ... prefer to learn from the Olos of Shavu'os than from the Shelamim of the Nesi'im?
(c) Beis Shamai maintain that the Olah that was brought at Sinai was an Olas
Re'iyah (hence their counter argument in 1. of the previous answer). What
sort of Olah did they bring at Har Sinai, according to Beis Hillel?

5)
(a) What does Rebbi Yishmael mean when he says 'K'lalos Ne'emru be'Sinai
u'P'ratos be'Ohel Mo'ed'?
(b) How does the fact that one of the P'ratos referred to is the obligation
to strip the animal and to cut it up, prove that Rebbi Yishmael too, is of
the opinion that the Olah that they brought at Sinai was an Olas Re'iyah
(like Beis Shamai)?
(c) According to Rebbi Akiva, both the K'lalos and the P'ratos were said
three times (even though the Torah does not specify the P'ratos at Har
Sinai). What are the three occasions?
(d) Rebbi Elazar too, is included in Abaye's list of those who learn like
Beis Shamai. What does he respond to the Tana Kama of the Beraisa (who
follows the opinion of Beis Hillel) quoted the Pasuk in Pinchas "Olas Tamid
ha'Asuyah be'Har Sinai"?
6)
(a) Rebbi Akiva maintains that they began bringing the Tamid at Har Sinai
and never stopped. How does he then explain the Pasuk in Amos "ha'Zevachim
u'Minchah Hikravtem Li ba'Midbar Arba'im Shanah Beis Yisrael"?
(b) In any case, we see that Rebbi Akiva too, holds like Beis Hillel. The
third Tana included in Abaye's list of those who concur with them is Rebbi
Yossi Hagelili, who lists three Mitzvos that come into effect when going up
to Yerushalayim on Yom-Tov. Which three?
(c) Each of the three has a specialty that the other two do not. The Olas
Re'iyah is given totally to Hashem (though this seems to follow the thinking
of Beis Shamai in 3b.); whereas the Chagigah was brought before Matan Torah.
What do we prove from here?
(d) What specialty do the Shalmei Simchah enjoy?
7)
(a) We learned earlier that Rebbi Yishmael must concur with Beis Shamai,
because if the Olah that they brought at Har Sinai was the Korban Tamid, how
is it possible that at Sinai they did not make Hefshet and Nitu'ach, and
later they did. We refute this proof however, from another statement of
Rebbi Yossi Hagelili. What did Rebbi Yossi Hagelili say?
(b) What do we finally conclude with regard to Rebbi Yishmael? What have we
gained by saying that?
8)
(a) Rav Chisda finds the Pasuk in Yisro "va'Yishlach es Na'arei B'nei
Yisrael va'Ya'alu Olos, va'Yizbechu Zevachim la'Hashem Parim" ambiguous?
What are the two possible ways of interpreting it?
(b) It makes little difference to us, seeing as that event is over and done
with and will never recur. According to Mar Zutra however, the She'eilah is
of Halachic significance, because we need to know how to read the Pasuk in
Shul (as we just explained). How does Rav Acha Brei de'Rava explain it?
