Dear Rabbi Forum

Rabbi Daniel Channen

In 1983 HaRav Daniel Channen, shlita, received Semicha from R’ Azran, z”l, a member of the Beit Din of the Adus Charadus. In the same year he also received Semicha from the Rabbinate of Yerushalyim. During the following years he went on to receive Semicha from the Chief Rabbis of Israel; R’ Lau, Shlita, and R’ Bakshi Doron, shlita, The Chief Rabbi of Be’er Sheva, Rabbi Deri, shlita, the Chief Rabbi and Av Beit Din of Yerushalyim R’ Messas, shlita and HaGaon Harav R’ Ovadia Yosef, shlita.

For the past 17 years he has served as a Moreh Horah for kashrut in his community. He has given shiurim to hundreds of students in Yora Daya both on a private level and as part of a wider range of Semicha programs. Many of his talmidim have chosen to pursue Semicha and have succeeded being granted such from the Rabbinate and other Rabbanim throughout Eretz Yisrael.

For many years R’ Channen was a prolific artist and writer authoring books such as Talis Ends which brought to life of the most difficult Sugia’s in Baba Metzia and Baba Kama

The late Dr. Joseph Kamnensky zt’l the former Director of Torah U’ Mesorah wrote great accolades over this work.   R’ Channen’s latest works in the Iggress HaRamban and Birkat Hamazon (both Pirchei Shoshanim publications) have again received worldwide attention and interest.  Birkat Hamazon has already been translated into Russian, French and soon Spanish.  This experience has enabled R’ Channen to develop a very unique style in enabling one to understand very difficult concepts in a manner that allows one’s mind to perceive as it never has done before.

Channen has gained an international reputation as a thorough and dynamic teacher. It is because of this that Pirchei Shoshanim is proud to present to the world his shiurim. Drawing on the knowledge of the many years of experience and that of his own natural gifts that the Almighty has given him, he has designed a unique course that holds the attention and develops the skills of students on all levels. He has graciously granted to participate in the Pirchei Shoshanim Semicha program and will issue a Semicha based on a decision by The Vaad of Pirchei Shoshanim for those who complete his shiurim. The Vaad and our participating Chabura are very grateful to have someone of this caliber and dedication involved with the program.

Channen for nearly 20 years lived with his family in trailers in the settlements braving all elements in pursuit of living in ERETZ YISRAEL.  Today R’ Channen lives in Ramat Beit Shemesh with his wife Yehudit and their 9 children b’eh.
