Nidah 50

1)

(a) Is someone who is blind in both eyes eligible to testify, and what is the source for this?

(b) According to our Mishnah, who is eligible to testify but not to judge?

Rebbi Meir is the author of our Mishnah.
(c) How does he derive this from the comparison of Ribim to Nega'im?

(d) In which regard do we learn Nega'im from Ribim?

2) What do we learn from the Pasuk "ve'Huva el Aharon ha'Kohen O el *Achad* mi'Banav ha'Kahohanim"?

3) Rebbi Yochanan permitted a man who was blind in one eye to testify.

(a) How could he ignore our S'tam Mishnah, when he himself maintains that we always rule like a S'tam Mishnah?

(b) For which two reasons did Rebbi Yochanan prefer to follow the S'tam Mishnah in Sanhedrin rather than our S'tam Mishnah?

4)
(a) What kind of food is Metamei Tum'as Ochlin, but is not subject to Ma'asros?

(b) Why are figs and vegetables (respectively) not subject to Pei'ah, even though they *are* subject to Ma'asros?

5)
(a) What do the following come to exclude (from the obligation of Pei'ah)? 1. 'Ochel'? 2. 'Nishmar'? 3. 'Gidulo min ha'Aretz'?

(b) Are these latter three, subject to Ma'asros?

(c) Which kind of vegetables are subject to Pei'ah, and why?

The Chachamim hold that, if there are rows of onions growing in between rows of other vegetables, the owner is obligated to leave only one corner of Pei'ah for all the rows.
(d) What does Rebbi Yossi hold, and why?

6) Raba bar bar Chanah quoting Rebbi Yochanan says that Ulshin (a kind of bitter herb) that was sown originally for animals (and which is therefore not subject to Tum'as Ochlin), will require specific intention to use for human food *after* it has become detatched, and that such a Machshavah *before* it has been detatched will not suffice.

(a) What proof does the Gemara bring for this from one of the thirteen things said by the Neveilah of a Tahor bird?
Rebbi Zeira rejected that proof with the contention that *that* Beraisa speaks about a bird which fell from the sky.
(b) What does that mean, and why does Abaye object to that suggestion (from 'Tarnegoles she'be'Yavneh')?
Rebbi Zeira answered that the case of the 'Tarnegoles she'be'Yavneh' refers to a 'Tarnegol Bera'.
(c) Why did that make everyone laugh?

(d) How did Abaye react to their laughter, and how did he justify Rebbi Zeira's answer?

7)
(a) How did Rav Papa answer Rebbi Zeira?

(b) What is the meaning of the Si'man "Amoni ve'Lo Amonis"?

(c) Which kind of bird is a Geirusa, and is it a Tamei bird or a Tahor one, and why?

8) If a Kasher fledgling fell into a wine-press and died, according to the Chachamim, Machshavah to feed it to non-Jews , but not to feed it to dogs, renders it food.
(a) Is it Tamei immediately, or does it require some form of Hechsher, before it becomes a food, and why?
The Neveilah of a Kasher animal requires no Machshavah and no Hechsher anywhere.
(b) What is the Din by the Neveilah of a Kasher bird and of Cheilev, and why is this?

(c) And what is the Din of a non-Kasher animal, and why?

(d) According to this, where does the case of a fledgling that fell into the wine-press speak, and why is this?
