Nidah 39

1)

(a) What Chazakah does a woman have: 1. during the days of Zivus (the eleven days between Nidah and Nidah)? the period of Nidus ... 2. before the time of her Veses has arrived?; ... 3. after the time has arrived?

(b) If a woman who has no Veses, fails to make a Bedikah, what Din does she have? Is there any difference between Shogeg and Meizid?

(c) And what if she has a Veses?

(d) What kind of woman is Tehorah, even though she has a Veses and failed to make a Bedikah - according to Rebbi Meir?

2) Which three people have a Chezkas Tum'ah, and are therefore Tamei if they failed to make a Bedikah?

3) Rav Chisda establishes the Chidush of our Mishnah according to Rebbi Meir.

(a) What does Rebbi Meir say (regarding a woman who has no Veses), and what does Rav Chisda mean?

(b) Then why does Rebbi Meir rule that her husband is obligated to divorce her and never to take her back? Considering that a woman who has no Veses is permitted during her days of Zivus, why is he not permitted to remain with her, and to have Tashmish during her days of Zivus?

The author of our Mishnah therefore, is Rebbi Meir.
(c) But, seeing as the Seifa, which deals with a woman who is hiding from robbers, goes according to Rebbi Meir, would it not seem that he is not the author of the Reisha?
4) Rava learns the Chidush of the Reisha differently.
(a) How does he learn it?

(b) How is Rava proven wrong?

5) Yet a fourth explanation of the Chidush of our Mishnah is that a woman cannot fix a Veses during the days of Zivus.
(a) What made Abaye say to Rav Yosef 'But you *did* tell us that?
Rav Yosef actually taught it with regard to a Beraisa, which states that, if a woman changed her date from the fifteenth to the twentieth, both days are forbidden (when they come round the next time). And the same will appy when it happens the next time.
(b) What did Rav Yosef add in the name of Rav Yehudah (quoting Shmuel) his Rebbe?
Answers to questions

6) The Gemara is at first, unsure whether we should not contend, le'Chumra at least, with a Chazakah formed during the days of Zivus (e.g. if a woman sees blood, three times, fifteen days (within the days of Zivus) after the previous sighting.

It will not prevent seeing three times on the twentieth day from creating a new Chazakah; But perhaps we must at least contend with seeing again on the fifteenth.

(a) What are the ramifications of the query?

(b) How does Rav Papa resolve this from the above Beraisa in conjunction with Rav Yehudah Amar Shmuel's statement?

(c) On what grounds does Rav Huna Brei de'Rav Yehoshua reject Rav Papa's proof?

(d) How does he prove his point from a chicken which changes its Veses, and then changes back?

7) Rebbi Yochanan and Resh Lakish agree that a woman can fix her Veses when she is a Zavah.
(a) What is their Machlokes regarding fixing a Veses when she is a Nidah?

(b) How does Rav Papa try to prove Rav Huna Brei d'Rav Yehoshua wrong from here?

(c) How does Rav Huna establish Rebbi Yochanan and Resh Lakish to tally with his explanation?

Hadran Alach, Benos Kutim!
