***************GIRSA SECTION********************
We recommend using the textual changes suggested by the Bach, Rav B. Rensburg
and the parenthetical marginal notes of the Vilna Shas. This section is
devoted to any *OTHER* changes that we feel ought to be made in Gemara,
Rashi or Tosfos.)
[1] Rashi 24a DH va'Afilu Ishto Imo:
The words "va'Afilu Ishto Imo" are the end of the previous Dibur. This
Dibur should begin "she'Yachzir Panav." (RASHASH)
[2] Rashi 24a DH "Dorshei *Reshumos*". Kesharim ... Dorshei *Chamuros* Garsinan:
These words should be "Dorshei *Chamuros*". Kesharim ... Dorshei *Reshumos* Garsinan
(Since "Chamuros" are knots, see Ritva and Talmidei Rabeinu Yonah. The
Girsa of Dikdukei Sofrim in our Gemara is also "Reshumos," as Rashi
concludes according to our emendation.)
[3] Gemara 24b [line 7]:
"v'Yesh Omrim, Nikar she'Hu Mechu'ar"
Rashi was Gores this line earlier, after the words Harei Zeh mi'Gasei
ha'Ru'ach. It is referring to Megahek and Mefahek. Rashi's reasoning is
that a person is forced to sneeze, and therefore he cannot be labeled
Mechu'ar (repulsive) for doing so. (VILNA GAON in Imrei Noam --
accordingly, there is no need for the emendation of the Bach.)
[4] Gemara 24b [next to the last line]:
"Amar Rav Huna, Haisah Taliso Chagurah Lo"
This statement does not appear to belong here, between the statements about
filth and excrement. Rather, it belongs earlier on the Daf, following the
words "Kasavar, Libo Ro'eh Es ha'Ervah Mutar," which is discussing the same
subject. (M. Kornfeld)
[5] Rashi 24b DH Chotzetz b'Taliso:
The words "*ul'Ma'alah* Min Kesefav"
should be "*l'Ma'alah* Min Kesefav"

discussed here because it is related to the Mishnah's discussion
34) [line 38] TZINAH - bitter cold
35) [line 38] LIBO RO'EH ES HA'ERVAH
It is an Isur mid'Oraisa for a person to pray or learn Torah when he can
see any of the parts of the body that are classified as Ervah, as is
learned from Devarim 23:15.
It is an Isur mid'Rabanan for a person to pray or learn Torah when there is
no separation between his heart and his Ervah (genital area), even if he is
not naked (SHULCHAN ARUCH Orach Chayim 75:1). Chachamim were stringent in
this case since we find a verse that attributes *seeing* to the heart. The
verse in Koheles (1:16) states "v'Libi Ra'ah Harbeh Chochmah" ("and my
heart *saw* much wisdom") (MISHNAH BERURAH 75:4)

draw iniquity with cords of vanity" (Yeshayahu 5:18)
