Bechoros 27

BECHOROS 27 - dedicated by Hagaon Rav Mordechai Rabin of London, now living in Yerushalayim.

*********************GIRSA SECTION*********************
We recommend using the textual changes suggested by the Bach, the Tzon
Kodshim and the parenthetical marginal notes of the Vilna Shas. This section
is devoted to any *OTHER* changes that we feel ought to be made in the
Gemara and Rashi)

[1] Gemara 27a [line 6]:
The words "*d'Kedushas* ha'Guf"
should be "*Kedushas* ha'Guf"

[2] Rashi 27a DH Tovas Hana'ah:
"v'Im Hayah Kohen" is a new Dibur

[3] Rashi DH Aval Hanei Matanos *Bechor* ...:
The words should be "Aval Hanei Matanos *u'Vechor* ..."

[4] Rashi DH Kohen Katan:
(the correction of the RASHASH,
removing the words "Lishna Acharina," does not appear to be correct)

[5] Gemara 27b [line 5]:

1) [line 1] TOVAS HANA'AH LA'BE'ALIM - the owners have the right to give them to the poor person of their choice

2) [line 2] MI'KERYO - from his heap of grain
3) [line 6] D'LO MITCHELA - it cannot be redeemed to remove its sanctity
4) [line 10] TERUMAS CHUTZAH LA'ARETZ - Terumah taken from produce grown outside of Eretz Yisrael; there is a Rabbinic obligation to take Terumah from produce grown in Bavel, Egypt, Amon and Moav (see Insights to Chulin 6:5)

5) [line 12] L'SHAM'EI - to his attendant
6) [line 16] D'TERUMAH - of Terumah that is Tamei (see Insights)
7) [line 16] TREI NATLEI - two cupfuls
8) [line 21] MI SHEHA'TUM'AH YOTZ'AH ALAV MI'GUFO - a person whose Tum'ah has its source in his own body

9) [line 23] KOTZAH CHALAH - takes off Chalah
10) [line 24] B'REISH MASA - (O.F. forgon) with the end of a poker used for a fire
11) [line 27] KOHEN GADOL - an adult Kohen
12) [line 28] L'AFNUYEI - to eliminate (relieve himself)

13) [line 1] HAZA'AH - sprinkling on the third and seventh days (TUM'AS MES)
If a person (or utensil) became Tamei through touching a Mes, or an object that was Tamei with Tum'as Mes, or being in the same room as a Mes or something that is Metamei b'Ohel, he must wait seven days to become Tahor. On the third and seventh days he must have spring water mixed with the ashes of the Parah Adumah (Mei Chatas, see Background to Bechoros 25:11:d)) sprinkled on him. A person who is Tahor dips three Ezov branches that have been bound together into the mixture, and sprinkles them on the person who is Tamei. On the seventh day, he immerses in a Mikvah after the mixture is sprinkled on him in order to complete his Taharah. (Bamidbar 19:17-19)

14) [line 9] DEL'SHANAH DIDEI MANINAN - we figure the year from the day it was born and not from Rosh ha'Shanah
